The Ultimate Guide
to Developing the Classic Golf
Swing
|
So, how’s your golf swing? I’m
guessing you haven’t mastered the classic golf swing yet, or
you wouldn’t be visiting this website. But why is it that
so many people have difficulty perfecting with what would seem
to be such a simple concept as swinging a golf club?
First of all, relax, it’s not your fault,
it’s the mechanics behind your golf swing that is the
problem.
Let’s get one thing straight right off the
bat. Mark my words as I’m sure most golf pros will agree
with me on this:
THERE IS NO SUCH
THING
AS THE PERFECT GOLF SWING
It doesn’t exist, it never has, and it
never will. Why not? Because we’re all imperfect
beings. We make mistakes all the time and we’re often
head cases with confidence and self esteem issues.
Physically, we suffer from foot, shoulder, back and muscle
problems to name just a few. We are not robots.
But this doesn’t mean we can work at
developing a classic golf swing, take strokes off our game and
even increase or driving distance. Just don’t expect to
wake up one morning and never have a problem again, because
that just isn’t realistic.
So how do we begin to work on developing our
golf swing?
Take a moment to consider this: no two
people are exactly alike. Everyone’s body frames are
different, their stances vary greatly, the way they grip
each club is unique, and thus the pendulum motion they use to
swing each club is altogether unmatched.
What do I mean by this? Well, for
example, some people, especially those who are taller and
lankier, tend to swing inside out while the shorter person may
develop a flat golf swing and still others will have a natural
slice or fade.
Thus, for each and every person, the idea of
a simple golf swing is not simple after all. You address
the ball, swing, drive that sucker a whale of a distance and
you think you’ve figured it out. That is, until you try
to repeat it a second time. You've done this before, so
why can’t you consistently do it every time? I mean
it’s not rocket size, you’re not curing cancer, you’re just
trying to hit a small dimpled ball with a length of graphite
and metal.
So what are some of the factors in dealing
with the development of the classic golf swing?
-
Well, as I said earlier, stance is very important,
and you need to understand how your stance effects
which way the ball rotates when you hit it.
Do you have a pronated or supinated stance?
Definitely factors leading to unexpected striking
results.
-
Properly gripping the golf club is another key
aspect. If the grip is too loose, or permits
club slippage, you could end up rotating the head
in different ways as you come down on the
ball. You might even be allowing the club to
slide forward or backward as you strike the ball,
so you’re not hitting the ball with the sweet spot
of the club. Poor grip is a great way to top
the ball, definitely not a desired effect.
-
How’s your swing? Is it natural, or
forced? Timing is everything here.
-
Are you confident when you’re on the tee, in the
sand, on the fringe or otherwise ready to strike
the ball? If not, you’d better get
confident. This is the MOST IMPORANT
component. I can guarantee you that once
you’ve built your confidence level, the first three
listed here will become a whole lot easier to fix.

I'm sure you're tired of
hearing what's wrong with your swing, and
you're ready to starting fixing things.
But how do you get started?
My recommendation is to
start by getting a copy of the
ebook The Simple
Swing. This is a great
guide that will help you simplify your swing
in just a few short weeks, while ensuring
that you are able to not only maintain your
current driving distance, but actually drive
the ball further.
